"Traveling is in my blood. I've done it essentially all my life, left home when I was 17 and been on the road ever since," said Jim Jaillet, who spends part of every winter in Yuma.

Jim's biggest adventure yet has been exploring Mexico and all seven Central American countries. He only stopped when the roads did.
“We went to the other side of Panama. That's where the road ends, you can't drive anymore," said Jaillet.

Jim spends his days visiting monuments and meeting the people of Mexico and Central America.

"They're very king and generous, delightful people. The music and the food, wonderful stuff," said Jaillet.

Although was robbed four times and his RV broke down, stranding him for two months, Jim still has a positive spin on the negative experiences.

"Fortunately, we were stranded in a lovely place. We just sharing a lovely time waiting for the engine replacement," said Jaillet.

Jim's friends pressured him to write about his trips when he returned. He used the e-mails he’d written to write the first draft of a book and added some of the hundreds of pictures he took along the way.

Jim said the most important thing that came from the trip was the change it brought about in him.

He said, "The people were kind and giving and I'd like to think I might be a kinder and more giving person than I was before I left on my trip."
